Species Query

I was just wondering how other anglers would view this. I set a target at the start of the year for 10 species.luckily ive reached that :) but in the case of a short and long spined sea scorpion having caught both would you count itas 2 species rather than 1?
in my own eyes its just the 1,but ive a few friends who think differently.

cheers :)

unfortunately being confined a bit as i have no car i,ll be mostly around cork harbour (cobh/monkstown)NOT IDEAL :( could someone advise me what species that may show up during these summer months .

thank you

On the link posted underneath you'll find two downloadable guides to help you identify fish species, the first is by the Central Fisheries Board (now Inland Fisheries Ireland) and the second made by SAI members Ronald and stevecrow74

Both are in .pdf format (you will need Acrobat Reader to view these files but luckily that's a free download from Adobe)

Short and long spine sea scorpion are two different species, and in relation to possible catches around the areas you have mentioned, I'm certain the lads from Cork might be able to give you better advise.
Hope that helps and tight lines!

I'd class them as 2 separate anyway.

If you drop a small piece of rag or mack on tiny hooks under a float down the side of "de wall" you should pick up a few diFferent types of the mini species. That could bump it up another bit for ya.
