http://www.namixfishing.com/I have been looking at the namix website (link above) and they have 3-4 different molds for general beach fishing, my question is which one is most suitable for my needs? basically I want to use the leads with the breakaway imp and get the eye of the tail wire as close to the back of the lead as possible (right at the back)
Any suggestions?

ive got the gx ones and their good, got it with the bait clip which i dont like. i always use them with the imps.
the wires dont break out too easy, usually when retrieving i can feel the lead dragging along, not great for general beach fishing but they work well in a strong tidal pull(which explains the
Grip
Xtra

). i sorted this by cutting up cotton wool buds and using the plastic from them on the wires and it does the job fine, probably cheaper than the plastic bits you can buy online.

Thanks for the reply, I would not go near the ones with the bait clips as they probably only release the hooks half the time. Good tip with the cotton earbuds

ive had no luck with the namix leads! everyone sayd about them being the best for grip etc, but if i use them in a strong tide pull the wires stay in palce and they just seem to roll all over the place and not bed in!

I've found the namix leads cast well even with a big bait as long as it's tucked behind the lead with an imp, not on bait clip. The only time I've had a problem with it gripping the sea bed is if I use a rod with to stiff a tip but that could be said for most leads. My only gripe is the quality of the mould I got could have been better.

I had the origional moulds when they first came out a good few years ago now, the moulds were not the best quality but still made a reasonable lead that cast well with the aid of a breakaway imp, I'm advised that the quality of the moulds have since improved.
Is it one of the newer moulds you have or the origionals?

yeah, the ones i did were off original moulds, found them pretty poor by mould standards really.
only time i ever used them was with a century tip tornado sport.

Off topic, slightly, but I bought the breakaway Ultra mould, the new one, that you pour the cavity and then buy the nose cones for.
Ok, not as cheap to make your own leads as perhaps a mould where you buy grip wires, beads and tail wires seperately, but it has thicker wire on the nose cone and grips very well. Have used it with the Imps etc and I really rate this lead/mould highly.

Received the 165g Namix Bullet Mould. A nice weight to cast with which fits nicely in between the yellow (157g) and Red (173g) breakaway impact leads. Every lead I made inclusive of grip wires weighed in at 165g.
I modified the mould so that I could get the tail wire loop as close to the back of the lead as possible(idea for use with an imp), see attached photo for lead weight cast pre and post modification.
