Have never given smooth hounds a go but have decided it's time after seeing last years reports from north Dublin and Wicklow. So can anyone shed some light on a possible venue (pms welcome). I was thinking maybe White Rock or Killiney? Any info on bait/ gear etc is welcome!

you could try the rocks near the old harbour in Blackrock.

White rock and Killiney arent great for the hounds.
Poolbeg, casting back towards Booterstown can be good from late may onwards, and anywhere from Booterstown down to Monkstown will give you a shot at them, and a good chance of bass aswell.
Rigs are a matter of personal preference, personally I usually use a pennel pulley with 5/0 Sakuma Manta extra hooks - relatively small for a 5/0 compared to other brands but I find them good and strong and very sharp. It also allows for a large bait so it can be left out there a while without the scent washing out too quickly.
Baitwise, fresh peeler crab, king rag or a combo of both are hard to beat.
