I dont think it does make any difference, ive caught good fish on both

I like using coloured shockleader as it's easier to see at night, makes it a lot easier to undo tangles and the like.

id use clear for bass fishing but dont think it makes that much of a difference.

Thanks for the replies ,iv run out of clear stuff and its only gettin harder to justify spending a fortune on gear,roll on the end of the recession.

i prefer clear it has caught me the bigger fish

i always tend to use a dark coloured line with a clear shock leader

ive used both but dont find any real difference,,,if i had to pick id use the coloured(ilumious yellow/green) as shambo said its easier to see at night and easier to untangle,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,also i do more night fishing than day fishing so i use it on my main rig body and acts as an atractor as well...........

Never used a shock leader before, just wondering what situations would you need to use one in and how do you make them up?

Shockleader is a length of line strong enough to withstand the extra strain caused when casting. Generally your mainline will be approximately 15-18lb, if you where to cast a 6oz lead with this strain of line your line is almost certainly going to break. General rule of thumb being 10lb of line per Oz, 6oz lead - 60lb shockleader. I personally use tapered shockleader which goes from 15-60lb, there comes 5 on a spool, each being 10 metres long, I think. Others prefer to use a shockleader which may be 60lb or above straight through, I rather the tapered as it reduces the knot size where it is attached to the mainline. Hope this is of some help.
