starfish as bait

just wondering has anyone tried these as bait.
was out saturday night and there was loads washed up on the shore on ballymoney beech
surely something most eat them. i put a section of 1 on a hook with no joy so am i wasting my time using them or has anyone else had any luck with them.

never used them myself but i would imagine since they havent evolved to evade predators through speed of movement they must have some other defence mechanism which puts fish off, maybe a bad taste or are toxic in some way?

had a look on google and couldnt find anything relevant but they best way to find out is to try them and see if you have any luck.......be sure to let us know if you do

Ahhhh, the poor ickle starfish. Is noting safe anymore. :(

did a little search around and according to greenanswers.com shark rays and boney fish including puffer fish are the natural predotor of star fish. i think they could be worth a go at a good ray mark maybe or maybe dogs might eat them too
