Markyb,

There are so many spots you can fish from along either side of the Kenmare,it is is difficult to choose. The direction and force of the wind can ruin your days fishing but around Kenmare there is always a spot to fish from if you don't mind the travelling.
If you look for the species you mentioned it is hard to find them on one particular mark, but there is a good chance the coastline just Noth-west from Ardgroom will suit your needs.Plenty of signposted spots here near the public footpath leading to the cave. Most marks are deepwatermarks,so ray, pollack, wrasse, even conger and huss are possible.
Another spot,if you like mixed fishing,is Hog's head.Bass on the sands and rocks, beachfishing everywhere down the parts of Waterville.
Good alternative and a little less demanding are Gleesk pier near Sneem,or Blackwater pier just east of Sneem. My friend and I will be fishing the Kerry coast from May 4 - 9.We will be doing some boatangling and fish from the shore. We aim at triggerfish, from Bolus Head,
big wrasse, pollack. We hope to catch some bass at the beaches near Waterville. We also try to catch a recordbreaking garfish.I had a worldrecord fish here before of more than 1800 grms, but never bothered to send it in.If we catch a recordfish what so ever it goes back to its environment right away.Maybe a picture, thats it.I don't like sending fins, tail, heads or whole fish to get my picture in the paper or my name on a list.I'll keep you posted!

Get in contact with Kevin Brain who runs a tackle , bait and guiding service out of waterville. He also has a booklet out on fishing the area.

Donagh is right.I visit Kevin myself in May.I reseved a copy of his book.He is probably the best bet to get the most updated info.A call will do wonders I think.
About the tides.I like the incoming tides best in general, but locally(Kevin !)it's the other way around sometimes. From beaches/mixed flooding is best most of the time, because bass flatties and ray tend to swim up with the tide, even so that when wading while fishing for bass they swim behind you sometimes,or right in front of you.
