Arthurstown, Co. Wexford help!

Wed Apr 06, 2011 4:31 pm

Hey everyone.

Here's my problem, I'm recently only starting to take competition angling seriously since rugby has finally almost done me in  and wining the first comp with only one other angler registering a score. I'm currently building my gear up to the standard of the better guys in the clubs i fish which could take alot of time and money.

I am fishing a competition in Arthurstown at the weekend and it is one of the if not the only parts of the wexford coast I haven't ever fished. Long time since i walked onto a new venue down here.

Most info i'm finding here and else where on the web is talking about the pier, small groups and pleasure fishing on specific marks not many matches mentioned.

Here's my questions:

What style of fishing should i expect in that general area? (not being sure of exact mark and struggling to spot one on google earth that will hold 30 anglers)

Any particular baits (struggling to sorce fresh peeler and never manage to get time with tide to go dig maddies)?

Do i gear up for scratchin in close, pure flounder bashing, distance fishing(have seen good dabs mentioned) or a mix of all the previous?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've only ever fished down there in the winter time so I can't help much. Not being any sort of super match man (see ECR results  ) but I'd go armed with the usual mix of bait and rigs and I'm sure other club members will help you out on the day. The one thing I've found in most comps I've fished is that people are really willing to help you out with advice and tips.

Best of luck!
