Introduction

Hello to all members of this forum. My name is Jerry and I have been fishing since I was eight. I am now 53 so do the math! Like all of you I am still learning. Apart from marks that are now fish less my concern is the amount of lug and rag worm spots that have been dug out. It is a crisis down here in Kerry. You show a starter a spot for lug and before you know it everyone is using it. I know of only two spots where I am guaranteed to get lug and rag worm. Needless to say I will not be showing these spots to any one. My favorite rod is a Grey's BZe 12`6, 3 to 5 ounce and my favorite reel is the Ambasssadeur 6500CT. I have had one specimen bass coming in at eleven and a half pounds (lug). My favorite fishing is for bass and turbot. So thats enough about me, I am glad to have found this site where I am sure I will pick up useful information and maybe able to provide some info myself. Tight lines!

Hi Jerry,

Welcome to the site, I totally agree with the points you made with regards the bait beds been hit too hard. There are probably 2-3 well known ones that get hit hard. Pity there isin't a greater availability of farmed worms like they have in the UK for example.

I like the way tralee bay ran a comp recently where lug was banned, the more of these type of comps the better, I would like to see at least a third of comps where no marine worms are allowed.
