They make a rather horrible grinding noise with there teeth.used to give me an awful case of the Willy's when you where standing up to yer family jewels in fish and the next thing you would here the grinding.......at least the congers would go mental so you could see them.

Yup, Wolf Fish. Seriously impressive fish, you can bet you're careful of your fingers when unhooking them.

If you want to catch one, head for the Fjords....

was in work trying to translate an article about fishing in them thar fjords, that's why I was wondering.

You certainly wouldn't want that lad clamped around yer jewels, scara. I'm slightly uncomfortable just picturing it...

Caught loads of them in norway last may ,baitted pirk tapped along the bottom seemed to work really well ,not much of a fight though but good laugh when you got them into the boat ,you never seen so many grown men climb on top of seats to get clear of the nasty b******s !! it's the only fish i've come across that actually trys to bite you :lol: :lol:

yup.. they are in my neck of the woods... catfish, ugly buggers aren't they ;)

Before they wasn't sold with their head on just because they are so darn cute (read UGLY).

They are fished by wrecks, using a heavy pilk with a 20cm trace between pilk and treble-hook. Let the pilk reach bottom get some torque on the line and the bounce the pilk on the bottom, that seems the irritate the hell out of them, and hell is where they come from (regarding the looks then) ;)

They can be fished with bottom-bait as well from shores, rocky shores that is..
I'm going to visit this place again (when weather approves) and try and get some, if I do i´ll post pics for sure. The spot is also good for wrasse, cod, sea-trout, mackerel and other species.
