help and guide for donegal

hi guys my young son is now 10 year old , its now time to put a rod into his arms, so im gona head up to donegal this weekend with him and was wondering any of you guys could recamend any good areas you think would be great to to him too, im not asking for huge fish just somthing to get him intersted id be ever so grateful, thanks

mate i was in fahan last sunday and drew a bank just looking to bring the we lad to a peir or somwhere thats not going to cause him any probles snags etc anywhere except rathmullan as the kids like to dive of that peir quite a lot

Culdaff,Leenan and Malin head are good piers without many snags
but the fishing has been quiet up here recently but you never know
the coalies that are about are quite small and skinny but might be a bit of craic for the wee lad

Hi - if u comin as far as Bundoran, call into us at Land & Sea Sports, theres great fishing within 5mile radius of the town with excellent sea fishing, the drowes & duff fisheries rivers, Lough Melvin & several coarse fishing lakes in the area, you can also fish of the shore in Bundoran, Tullan strand (bundoran), & Mullaghmore, and u can also fish of the rocks at Magheracar, Bundoran - call n & we'll give the whole run down on where to go & what u & your son would like to fish for - (were n the West End, opposite the Peak Restaurant & just down the road from Breslins Supermarket).

And if you not comin as far as Bundoran - hope you have a great wkd's fishing

you should'nt have to head off that far man. get him set up with a set of mini feathers on a spinning rod and bait the hooks with tiny bits of mackerel and head for waterfoot pier 3 hours into a flooding tide will have him into more coalies trhan he can handle. and he'll only have to cast 30 foot in front of him for hours of fun over a clean bottom

Have to agree with Al above. Great craic to be had from Waterfoot. Ok, it can get crowded, but so can the piers in Donegal, but its less of a drive and the long trek could bore the young lad until you get him well and truly hooked. Take him a few short local trips and then come easter time go that bit further.
