Water temp

Looking at the current water temp from buoy m2 it is 8.2c. The average for March is 6.4c.
The average for April is 8.1. Seems with the mild Feb and good weather the water temp is rising alot quicker than usual.

Now onto the main question.

Its a mystery to me but will the fishing be better earlier than previous years or is there more factors involved like crab molting???

Last I heard the M2 buoy was out of the water? Maybe someone can clarify this or if its back in...

I have emailed the guys at islandbawn weather station in Howth to see if they know anything...

Email back:

Hi Jay,
It has been redeployed http://www.marine.ie/home/publicationsd ... ons.htm#M2 currently hovering around 8 degrees, I was only looking for historical data on this myself to see when the temp gets up to a 'boiling' 12 degrees.

Good Luck

Marc

Remember that reading could be surface water temp the same as you would get on you sounder in a boat.

the bit of sunshine could distort the real water temp.

you could be right as it went from 8.4 to 8.1 within afew hours, although the Feb was above average at 7.2 rather than 6.4. will be interesting to see the average at the end of the month.
