200lb Conger eel?

First of all,congratulation on a wonderful board and resource. I have been trawling through the many pages and note in your introduction of the Antrim section of the Charter Boat Page that a commercial trawler scooped up a 200lb Conger.
I have often wondered about this happening and indeed I am sure even the in-shore smaller boats see some terrific fish in their nets. Anyone have any similar tales, and, was the Conger verified? Just curious.

Unfortunately trotter it was sent off to be processed akin to the 30 lb pollack taken recently off donegal, of which only the head was retained and that only for a day whilst the skipper showed it around the local pubs!

Mates a diver and he takes films of his dives. Last year on an Antrim coast dive he recorded a conger easily 100lb plus. Nearer to 150lb would be more accurate!
I've seen this years footage so far, and the amount of fish on the North Donegal and North antrim wrecks you wouldn't believe. Some huge Pollock, Coalies and Ling.

That sounds very interesting. Its something Ive always wanted to do. I'd say you could learn alot about the fish from watching that kind of footage.
