Advice on home made rigs

lads probably a on brain question but when making your own rigs what kind of line do you use. I have tried shock leader for the main body and a few different lines for the snoods but i always end up with pig tails when i pull the knots tight and i do lube it.(although i find the ky a bit messy) before any one else has a pop.
would i be better using mono, copollimore etc .. any advice will be very much appreciated

regards cormac

i usually use 60lb ghreased weasel for my main body but recently changed to ultima powerflex cos i got a bulk spool of it, never had any probs with the greased weasel and the powerflex is doing the job so far for me.
my snoods are nearly always amnesia, in 20lbs, but will go upto 35lbs if needed.

for most of my scratching rigs i would use 30lb sakuma nite crystal (clear) for my main rig body, and virage flourocarbon 16lb for the snoods, thats for all my flattie rigs and three hook, two hook flapper vareations,if i was after huss or ray,id up this to 50lb mainline and 25lb snoods, use a good quality line all the time, you will be able to keep the diameter of the line down to help keep the rig as invisable as possible.

your rig body should match your shock leader 10lb bs for every ounce of lead simple!snood depends on target ,10 lb snoods wont do for smoothies and 50 lb is a bit over the top for flounder
