the first one is hard to say as it's an overview, but i'd guesstimate it's a ss
the second one is a ls
the third one looks like a ss
the short spined sea scorpion (father lasher) can grow in excess of 40cm and get to over 2lb
where as the long spined sea scorpion is the smaller of the species generally not getting over 20cm
hope this helps man, but just remember this is only my opinion from my own experience.
i'm sure other lads might have differing ideas.

The first 1 i caught in monkstown gave me a sting through the glove very sore but i do not think they are poisonous, saying that when i got my latest one last night i was very tentative touching him.

no probs man and never worry about those wee fish. totally harmless in the venom department. they just have a few spikes around the head that can jab you. but no worse than a prick from the dorsal of a wrasse or bass

Thanks for replies lads,so their not poisonous then.Caught one before and played safe, wasnt letting them spines anyway near me

donal as helpful as always

god they look very similar allthough the first dorsal fin on the ss scorpion starts further down the back from the head of the fish than the ls which is a great way to distinguish between them.cheers ugly and all as they are still a mini species
tightlines

Also count the number of spines in each of the dorsal fins they differ in each species
