hello all, i am wondering if anyone can give me any info on these marks , loch foyle estuary and roe estuary and ballikerry wall cheers info such as species and such cheers

Haven't fished any of those marks myself but if you search for the Lough Foyle Sea Angling Club you might turn up some info as I think they would fish those marks.

most areas in lough foyle ballykelly and longfield produce flounder and mullet at the right time of year to lug, ragworm ,crab and maddies.you can tip of with makerel for added sent but this will also attract crabs to your bait so change it ever 4/5 minutes or you will be fishing bare hooks,,the roe estury is the same.

Hi Richard , I,m a Limavady man born and bred ! The Foyle Estuary is huge if you take in the Donegal side . Re Ballykelly if you walk from the car park at the end of Station Rd to the sea wall turn right and head for the pump house about 600 yards to the right - good flounder can be had there and an odd whiting believe it or not -but it,s a long walk from the car . Also you can dig lug and rag at low tide on the Derry side of the big mussle bed to the left ( ie to left of where the wall starts ) Further up the foyle in the Myroe area there is what we call the Engine Corner which can be found at the end of Lommond Rd ( off Sea Coast Rd ) , turn left towards the old railway station for 150 yards then right to Engine Corner .. There are plenty of mullet there on filling tide as they head up the "burn" which empties at this corner - at low tide you will see the remains of a WW2 Spitfire about 300 yards off shore - you can walk out to it at low water .. As for the Roe Estuary or Roe Mouth , it,s much the same there flounder and mullet can be had from the railway bridge .. crabs can be a problem so be prepared ..again it,s a long walk no matter where you approach it from ie from Myroe end or down the Point Rd just off the Coast Rd.. There is a very easy option if you turn right at end of Lommond Rd then the first left you end up crossing a railway crossing, this brings you out at The Gallop Steps - the sea is just over the wall . You can also arrive here if you drive along the sea wall from the Engine Corner - I suggest you drive this from one end to the other as it ends at the Roe Estuary.. Lastly try Magilligan point for Bass, Dogfish, Seatrout 2 hrs either side of high water.. Then there is Benone and Downhill ! Good luck and feel free to contact me ..regards John

If as suggested by ??? Put a float on near the bait it will help keep the crabs at bay else if beachcaster is correct re changing bait every 4/5 mins your going to need a BIG BIG bait box - not necesary as flatties feed at the bottom and MID WATER where the crabs can,t get hold of the bait !!!

as above but also try a rolling lead to give the baits some movement and best of luck
