Hello everyone,
Im only new to this site . I have not been fishing in a long time but now that most of my friends and a few old fishing buddies have had to leave ireland for work I have decided to try and get back fishing around the south west Donegal area to pass the time. I was never what you would call an experienced fisherman at the best of times, id usually just go with people who knew what they were at and sometimes id get lucky. If anyone would be interested in giving me some advice on bait or places to fish or types of gear to use , or really any advice anyone was willing to share i'd very much appreciate it. I'd be interested in any type of shore fishing.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Best advice would be to join a local club and get a few outings with them. Best way to learn. Have a look at the IFSA Ulster Provincial Council for your nearest contacts.
Welcome to SAI.

Hi Scrappy, welcome to the site

I have to say as someone who got back into fishing about a year ago myself that this site is a brilliant source of information. A quick search will nearly always get you started on the right track for most types of shore angling and give you some info. on places to fish as well. The Planetseafishing and world sea fishing sites are good too for more general stuff. I'd say keep it simple in terms of gear and rigs and don't be afraid to try a mark even if there are no reports coming out of it, you could stumble on a decent spot and you always learn something

Good luck with it!
