mono is definitely easier to tie knots with and sort out tangles
braid gives much better bite indication at distance
if fishing in close there is little difference between the 2 except with mono if you do hook a decent fish you do get that bit of stretch to cushion the first run if you dont have your drag set correctly.
i use both, they both have their good points and bad points. and woud use either depending where im fishing. eg fishing over a clean bottom or freelining in mid water then i'd use braid.
if floatfishing or fishing in among the rocks and weed i'd use mono since i find it more resistant to abrasion. on my boat reel i have braid cos its thinner and cuts through the tide better.
no matter what advice you are giving it will come down to personal preference and the situation. best thing to do is to try both and see which suits you best

Well i like mono more but it really depends on the person so just try both yourself and choose which ever you like more :)

err, what kind of reel do you use ? if its a fixed spool put braid on one spool and mono on the other then you can use the braid on clean ground and for distance work and the mono for mixed ground and very windy days,,if its a multiplier use mono ,braid on a multi is only for utter nutters
