hi again cheers woody for that info on killimer ferry just one query we will be staying in kilkee and i,ve just been informed its a sh:t hole is this true or am i being wound up :x as i organised the trip and if it is ok are there any good pubs there :roll: as we do like a drink or two

kilkee is fine dont mind that about being a s*** hole its a nice town the begrudgers will knock it but I never had a problem there

don't mind those to**ers......kilkee is a totally sound. i've been livin here for the past 7 months, never seen a sign of trouble.....but of course you go looking for trouble in any town and you'll find it. this time of year the place is stuffed full of tourists, both irish, and foreign, and it's savage craic down in the pubs at the monent, no fear of any of ye going thirsty!!!!!
deadly buzz and couldn't think of a better place to be in the world once the sun comes out!!

Have to echo the lads comments, I am a Dub and have been around nearly every coastal town in Ireland and Kilkee is no Shi*hole, the quality of fishing is equal to the quality of women down there too, Top Class!!!, but on a serious note, there is great plugging and spinning to be had and the variety of species there is excellent!

There is nothing wrong with Kilkee its what you make of it, its one of the small no of towns on the west coast of ireland which didnt change its look.

You will enjoy kilkee as it will be well wound down by the time you get there and there are plenty of fishing to keep you entertained ye should also try and give the beach there a lash some evening there are flounder the size of buckets and bass too............

I'm originally from Kilkee and I'm moving back for good so I am biased!
It's a lovely place and best enjoyed off tourist season from an angling point of view!

Good craic locally and in Carrigaholt off season! I will introduce anyone interested to the best craic in the West!

I expect to be back full time early september and will update site with fishing news etc.
Expected to be back sooner but suffered a minor interruption due to ill health but I am "under repair" at the moment!

I think if you have your trip well planned you should have a ball where ever you go.
I met some Welsh lads last year digging lug who came over for a fishing hol. They weren't getting much lug despite being in the right place and knowing what to do, but they were dying from the previous nights excursions. They had expected to get bait very easily and fish anywhere. Therefore try and organize good bait and do some research on venues and whats needed. On day three they had organized a boat trip but I was told they spent the whole day doing a rubby dubby off the back of the boat, shame they weren't shark fishing,again the previous night caught up with them.
Needless to say they were disappointed with the fishing but enjoyed the pubs.

i have fond memories of Kilkee. nice spot and even better when you catch a few fish. good fish here too as Nelius said. enjoy it!

excellent sheltered cove, very safe for swimming with kids but no surf due to the natural breaker a reef formation called the Pollack holes (fantastic rockpools for swimming and snorkling when the tide is out - I have even seen a huge lobster in one) And for fishing it is close to the estuary surf beaches rocks and piers. Scotts shows Rugby when it is on so the place has everything.
