Oranmore sea fishing

Thu Feb 03, 2011 12:54 am

Hi, I`m new on this forum ,so hello to everyone. I heard from:

http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/shor ... ay%203.htm

that there is possibility to catch something in Oranmore . I don't mean of course shallow bay beside Oranmore castle and new Tesco store.
Did anybody heard/tried to fish in Tawin area, or beside Ardfry abandoned castle (not to far from Maree Boat Club) or maybe Ballynacourty, (which is probably more Clarinbridge than Oranmore) ?
I'm actually living in this area and there will be lovely can go fishing without driving to Blackrock or Fanore...

Fishing is slow enough in this area particularly at this time of year, there are some fish around in mid-summer if you put in the hours but far better fishing to be had travelling further out the coast roads both South to Clare or North to Connemara.

Ive had some nice strap conger on Twain shores, lots of mullet at low tide and must be some good flounder fishing around a few of the flats.

not much happening this time of year, but as saltydog suggested if you put in the hours there are fish there.
