theres no hard and fast rules darragh, lets take the winter/ summer species, whiting, cod, and coalies, are classed as winter species that move out in late spring, and pollock, wrasse amd mackerel are summer species, except that cod and whiting can be caught all year of the boats.and mackerel are being caught at the moment in clew bay.flounder are moving offshore at the moment to spawn, except they all dont go out at the same time, so you can still catch loads.ray are supposed to move out to deeper water during the winter, except, again, ive caught two already this year in a deep water shore mark.confused yet? :( seatrout, bass, and mullet are supposed to be spring/summer species, but seatrout can be caught all year round, depending on there spawning runs, and bass are being caught all around the country.so you really need some local knowledge to let you know what species can be caught in your area at this time of year.
