cocktail baits mainly for me ,i use it for tipping worm baits and flatties seem to love it. i'd also some success when using it for thornbacks but its wrapped over a sandeel for extra scent (flesh side out) and bound fairly tight with elastic.

i have had this discussion with a few guys up here and alot seem to rate it for most fish eating species but i'll be honest i prefer mackeral.

try it all ways you can think of because you never really know - guys in england seem to catch large bass on it but i havent any luck with our bass with it.

I wouldn't bother going near it. Mack is cheap, available and is a natural food source found in our waters. Just some corporate idea, pushed my the UK mags to sell a different bait.

use a lot of fish bait here for rays, huss, conger etc and while frozen blueys might be marginally better than frozen macky, fresh macky has always outfished frozen blueys.
Seen a lot of blueys brought over here by UK anglers and at the end of their holiday often the blueys are still in the freezer as the fresh macky has done the job.

As far as I can tell Bluey's seem more designed to catch the angler than the fish. I've used them a fair bit and the them wrapped around the sandeel for dogs and for tipping maddies for flats. Other than that they weren't particulary impressive, the high price they are sold for in my area is putting a lot of anglers using Bluey's more often.

tried em and dont like em ,i find mack does the job and i can catch it in the summer and freeze it alot cheaper than blueys  if anyone wants a tough bait try lamprey you,ll need a scissors or pliers to get it of the hook  had some nice flounder and dab on it ,but mac is just as good with a few turns of bait elastic

cheers for the feedback people. i actually bought them as an experiment to see what they would turn up just before the end of the year and i havent tried them yet. i was at the freezer the other night and noticed them beside my mackeral fillets and wondered what the hell i had bought them for!

im going to give them a go on sat morning at a few places in portrush on the early tide to see what results they turn up. i will use them on one rod and see what they turn up as opposed to another cocktail on another one.

many thanks

would agree with you there paul, fresh mackie is the top bait, but during the winter i find it will always outfish frozen mack everytime.
