Hi guys, hoping you can help me.I often fish mackerel, but just wondering, where is best place for them, is flat rocks,Portally cove, and also, does anyone know how to get to Rathmoylan, u go out to the point?remember, like an old village ahrbour, with slip way, etc.but forget how to get there. What are best feathers for this time of year,is it true,red/orange, or white feathers,r best for Pollack. and anything at all will catch mackerel.does anyone think those Hookai feathers r good, with the rubber head, and like a pheasant feather out, browny?thanks for any information ye may have!Paul.

Go to Altitude in Ballybricken or to the tourism office on the quay and get yourself a low scale map of the ares, number 76 i think, and find out yourself where the good spots are, you can walf along the cliffs for most of the way between Dunmore and the Saleens. I find white feathers on 2/0 hooks the best for mackerel, but I usually use jellies if I'm also targetting pollack or very small feathers if I'm after sandeels, they all catch mackerel anyway. Good luck

I find Mustad shrimp rigs are the best. They are definitely the job if mackerel are patchy and I know of a few charter skippers who feel the same way plus you'll get lots of bonus launce too.
