strange, we get codling all year round from the shore in antrim - though nothing compared to 40 years ago when they were prolific in numbers in red bay and when they used to throw back 3-4lb fish becos they were too small! overfishing!!

- and plenty off cork by the sounds of it. so im guessing its not a temperature factor.
maybe clare shores arent the right sort of environment for schools of cod..

as baitdigger says, maybe they just arent there.

have you ever tried fishing the shannon estuary? i have heard of codling being caught in it
