Mullet - any still here

I saw plenty of mullet about Cork Harbour up until the freeze. I have not been out since though. Have they all moved off now or are there still a few about in the more sheltered harbours?

could i tempt any mullet with spinners, or does it have to be sprats? not sure as i never fished for them b4.

Mullet mostly take baits and you can also catch them on fly, but sometimes they will hit ragworm mounted on small spinners. This is rare enough and I wouldn't target them a spinner myself.

In general people float fish bread for mullet, and sometimes rotten mackerel.

I have taken mullet on bubble float, bread and a treble (this way also catches swans and seagulls  so be careful.) Some of the locals at union hall said to use fish oil on the bread to make it more appealing (although they were vague on which oil they used). I read somewhere on the forums that anchovies oil is effective for other species so try that first.

Good Luck
