voluntary sea angling licence

hi all
money could be uesed to support/promote angling
any views?
use it to pay private dets. to catch illeagl netters
to highlite an issue in the press
the river anglers have abigger say t han sea ang. yet we out number them
its got to be worth thinking about
any views good or bad welcome

Bad idea. It won't work.

There's too much coastline to enforce any laws, plus you know what this country is like - people will get used to the idea of easy money coming their way, and sit on their arses while the €€€'s role in.

Nice in theory, but I can't see it working.

Not a mission. Ever. It's totally unworkable. We already get taxed to death in this country without a self-imposed one.

We need more fishery protection, but we should get that for the asking from government sources, not by private subscription!

That's as barmy as the government assertion that the drift net buyout here should be funded by 'private interest groups' - ie rod and line anglers!

If you check with your local fisheries board you can buy a share for the year which entitles you to a vote. The cost of collecting sea licenses would far outway what they'd bring in. The'res little chance of them coming in here after the coarse rod license attempt.
