Dunno about England, but the Glasgow Angling Centre are reasonable. I've got a fair bit of kit off them over the years.

As for tripods, I was in that Boston Outdoor place in Derry - just down the road from the new B&Q at the end of the Buncrana road. Thought I saw a tripod there for about stg?24 or so. Maybe try giving them a ring? Think the number is (from Donegal) 04871 262296

Otherwise yer man in Rod and Line at the lower end of Clarendon Street in Derry is easy enough to deal with - 02871 262877

There's also Top Tackle and Alladin's Cave in Letterkenny.

You could also try Tom's Tackle in the Waterside area of Derry - Ardlough Rd. From the Republic call 04871 346 265.

They would have a lot more sea-fishing gear than Rod and Line, and are generally cheaper than Boston Outdoors.

Seat Box and tripod.

I bought the Shakespeare Beta-box back last year. It now lays in the garage with my rig bits and spare line etc inside. Used it a couple of times when I fished out of the back of the car. That is a short walk along the pier or jetty. Tried beach fishing with it and nearly gave myself a hernia humping the thing up and down the cliff paths. Too bulky and cumbersome. You can get 'Sherpa' straps for them for about £14 but it's still a lump to carry around. Especially when you start loading it and find room for half a tackle shop. It is just a big box. You could get a similar size plastic storage box for less than a fiver that does the same job and make your own strap. As for a Tripod: My mate has had a Breakaway tripod for over ten years with no probs. I bought a cheapy from a market for £20 and to date have changed the Aluminium trace hangers/leg spreaders for steel after they broke. The plastic and brass screws for the aforementioned for steel plumbing clamps, after they broke. The plastic slider that the spreaders hooked onto for steel, after it broke. The aluminium bar that holds the bottom cups for steel, after it bent. Weighs as much as an old bedstead now.
In other words,,,,, spend on the tripod and find an alternative for a box. Instead of the box I've got a little collapsible three legged stool thing (no good on sand though) and I picked up a fairly large backpack come travel case which opens out to the front. Inside this I put a set of 'Stanley' plastic 5 drawer unit. It is about 18" high by a foot wide and 9" deep. Total cost for the unit and the rucksack was less than £25. Have a chat with other Seat-box owners before you go and buy one. I regret it myself.
Old saying 'Buy cheap, buy twice'.
Hope it helps.
