cork harbour

i have fished many locations in cork harbour over the
past few weeks but haven't caught one single fish.
can anyone please tell me a location inside cork harbour that
is fishing well at the moment

Where were you and what were you using tackle and bait wise? There are plenty of fish in the harbour at the moment, prob a tactical adjustment needed. Let us know what you were doing and we'll try to help.

cobh :bottom with mackerel and spinning
ballycotton :feathers for mackerel

I was down in ballycotton last sunday and there were loads of mackerel being caught. I was using mackerel strips on a 2 hook flapper and was picking up whiting, pollack and coalies. The guy that seemed to catch the most mack while we were there was using sabikis (mini feathers). Try cobh at kennedy quay for coalies,dab,mackerel and whiting or deep water quay for conger, doggies, gobies, whiting, pollack, mackerel etc. Kennedy quay fishes best about 2 hours before and after high water. I find deep water quay best at the start of the rising tide. Or you could try roches point for a few wrasse at high water. Church bay is throwing up some pollack at the moment too. Not sure what stage of the tide that fishes best on but i'd say rising tide should get the fish moving. Jelly worms and that type of thing work best down there.

I use them with a size 1/0 kamashan hook with about a foot of 10lb line running up to a swivel. Heavier main line above the swivel with a drilled bullet lead running free on the main line. Fish them as close to the bottom as you can with a fairly swift retrieve to get the tail wriggling like mad to attract any fish that are about.
