just got myself a new reel payed a few quid for it need a few tips on cleaning reels and genaral maintenance.

All multipliers no matter what make or model should be given a good wash in warm water after every session to prevent corrosion and make sure you ease the drag right off. A few times a year you can open your reel up and give inside a good clean down and oiling. There clips on you tube and step by step illustrated instructions available on line for most makes and models, just do a search and you should find them. A Reel case is also a good idea, it will stop your reel getting damaged while rattling about in you tackle box.

As above... Rinse after each session and ease the drag. Every few months clean and re lube bearings

Before rinsing, you're better off to tighten the drag. Then when finished rinsing and have shaken off excess water, loosen the drag. This helps keep water out of the drag washers, thus extending their life :wink:
