Brian i use them a lot of the time, they work great for the flatfish over sand. a few times i wiped on three of the big ones on to a pennel rig and got thornies on them. my wee girl used to bring the small tub from lidl if we were going to a pier, she had non stop fishing with the mini species, have also picked up pollock, coalies rocklin on them.

Durin the winter i buy them in a chinese cash and carry down here and take the shell off and use the whole of the insides. It's a great bait to pick the bigger whiting out of the shoal.

Had a load of small shrimp in a sand eel net and froze them down, got a load of smoothound on them.
So they do work but don't cast terribly well.
