patk after every session i rinse out the reels under the water tap, when dry i give them a light spray with a fine maintenance oil, its only a quid from the pound shops, cheap dirt but it dose the job. only when servicing the reels would i use the proper oil...

Thanks lads it is fixed spool reels i use. In general i put them in a sink of fresh water when i come in and drain them the following day allow to dry and then a little oil and put the spool and cap back on.I used to use wd40 years ago but heard this was bad for your reel can strip it down. This maintenance oil spray isnt the same? Is i not a good idea to put a little oil on after each clean/session?

after the reels are washed and dryed i like to give them a quick spray with the maintenance oil just to keep rust at bay, for the spray oil is a water repellent. on the shaft of the reel i would use yellow or red rocket, and it would do no harm only good, to give the reels shaft a few drops of oil after each session. if we want our reels to last we need to keep them in good order.
