Hang the trace for a few days if possible and then put them onto rig winders.

You should definitely hang or stretch your trace. Also if your using a rig wallet wrap the trace around your hand (carefully  ) and use Garden Wire to tie it. I normally put two bits of wire on the rig about 6 or 7 cm. Just put a turn or two around the trace and it will hold for you. Aldi are selling a bulk pack at the moment, I think I got 3 or 4 for about €3.

Rig winders are great but I find this a handy second choice plus takes up much less space. I always carry a few extra cuts of the wire for wrapping up the rig later.

the garden wire is the biz if your using a rig wallet and the little plastic coated wire with sandwich bags works well too but i find the rig winders much handier.
as for the breaking strain,
i use 60lb greased weasel for my rigs mainline, i usually use 5 or 5oz leads but if i need to up them to 6oz i know my rigs will cope with the pressure.
no point in having 50/60lb shock leader and lighter rigs as it defeats the purpose.

I was using 60lb Ultima powerflex, but found that it had more memory than an elephant.

Switched to 60lb Greased weasel and Tronix rig winders, and coils are nowhere near as bad
