Just wondering does anyone know where is best to fish on the south beach in Greystones? I went there last winter and went straight out from the tunnel at the south end but found I was getting snagged and loosing gear. Mind you I can't cast very far so that may have something to do with it!

Hi Dave,
Anywhere along that stretch is good, There is a small patch of Rough Ground where you were fishing at the tunnel, if you go down at low water you can see it and easily avoid it..I would still fish close enough to it though as it tends to hold fish, the back of the driving range is another good spot although a bit snaggy but the tide run is closer to the beach here and you really dont need a big cast to get into the fish, especially if your fishing in winter as the coalfish will be running right behind the surf, they should start to show by next month

You will also be in with a chance of dogs, codling, flounder and dabs. Lug, mussel and Mac are as good as anything there.

Cheers for that Al, heading down there with a mate tonight with some ragworm as bait so might just move a bit to right when I come out from the tunnell. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

No prob, Rag is probably one of the best baits there for Summer / Autumn so you should pick up a few anyway

Fished the South Beach last night, theres a good bit of weed on it. We only gave it a few hours and fished on the ebb which was crap. We had a 5 dogs and two codling biggest around 30cm at least no blank, Rag and crab best baits.

Hi Al,
We fished from about 6-8pm but I'm afraid we blanked! Baits (ragworm) were stripped every time which I'm assuming was crabs.
