Hi Lads,
Myself and a buddy are looking for a place to catch flat fish in Cork, any idea's no death traps please as he wants to bring his daughter along too, also any idea's on what to use, hook size etc, where to go, best times etc. Also need to know good places to dig lug & Rag worms as the ones we bought were CRAP, with a Capital K if you know what I mean. I'm not looking for any trade secrets here lads and if we get out five times during the year it will be a lot, so please, please help.
Thanks

Aghada - in East Cork
Dig the lug and rag by the pier either side will do... dig just at the edge where the gravel meets the mud... bring a good strong fork,,,its not easy going but the results are well worth it ..... then wait for the tide to come in...pub just across the road :)
Fish off the pier from about 2 hours before high tide. Night fishing is best
hope this helps

If flounder is your quarry you can't do worse than Youghal. The flounder fishing in Spring was fantastic. Its got a little quite now but you will still get fish. However you need crab otherwise your massively restricting your chances. Frozen crab will work but it must be common shore crab not than expensive crap some of the tackle shops plunder.
Try Ferry point, the slob bank, tip head, packs strand, the quays or above the bridge they all hold flounder.
