Took a spin for the first time around the bendy roads down to the bottom of poolebeg lighthouse yesterday and wondering from when you drive under the overhead barrier and come to the sea where would be the spots to fish from there on down ? also at what stage of the tide there would it be better to fish,have heard that it might be the last hour of the ebb and first two hours of the flood,thanks.

from the barrier, good fishing for flounders,
further down at the next bend, flounders and bass in close and smoothies at distance.
down the wall right to the lighthouse mac, pollock, whiting, rockling, codling, flounders, dogs
smoothies and even lobsters! , try different baits, tides and distance as a blank can happen here but don't be put off by that. i prefer fishing here in the evening/night 2 hours before and after hw. as i said ignore the blanks here and give it a few tries before you give up.

I think the main reason for no replies and lots of views on this one is the fact that it was posted with incorrect categorization. This should have been posted on the Share angling Q&A. Views are coming in because this is under the Shore Angling Reports only to find out that the intention was to ask some info.

Just my observation and fair play to you for providing all the help you can.

Thanks Rusty for that informative reply because wondered too why i hadnt heard back from anyone.Thought maybe they didnt want to give out info because of all the "ALIENS" that flock to fishing spots when they hear of them and destroy the place,beerswilling,mouthing,pissing everwhere and worst of all keeping anything that swims,no matter how small
Fished dalkey a few weeks back and was catching flats and the faces of shock and horror from some there when they saw me returning them to the sea,it made my day

A very welcome reply it was for sure,agree its some walk down lugging gear alright.Was wondering are cars left alone,ok parked down there at nights because it wouldnt be nice walking all the way back from the lighthouse in the early hours of the morning finding something had happened.Am planning to fish there the 24th this month,a full moon and high tide around 12pm,any thoughts,thanks.

Well you just never know with cars but I have been ok parking at the end of the wall. There are usually couple parked up eating chips so I think it be ok.

Hi macka, I had a few small wrasse and pollock on ragworm on the float there over the last two weeks and some small flounder on the bottom, again with rag, when I wasn't just feeding the crabs that is fished about 100 yards beyond the swimming shelter/club. I'm sure there are bigger wrasse there so its probably just a matter of working up and down a bit as they're territorial fish. Mate had a smoothie there about 3 weeks ago but I've blanked for smoothies the last three times I've been out so maybe they've headed south again? Never had any bother parking the car either! best of luck with it.

It's the white building about halfway down the pier, roughly 10 mins walk from the car. Just don't fish AT the swimming club, they tend to get a bit angry
