Waterville

Hi lads,
Heading down to Waterville for a week on the 8th of July. Going to fish Currane for sea trout and bring the beachcasters also. Had bass of the shore at Waterville last year and was wondering would anybody recommend anywhere else to try also? Be down for around 10 days so if any of the forum members down that way want to meet up for a bit of fishin send me a pm.

Hi Pete,
Hope you hit lucky with the weather for Currane, I have fished on there with my Dad in early June this year and May last year and both times bright sunny days, not ideal for down there, yes we blanked! with 10 days to go at you should have a bit more luck, sorry i'm not much help with Bass down that direction, I have not strayed any further than Castlemaine harbour and thats with the boat, saying that we did try fishing Culoo rock on Valentia Island last January, may be worth a try.
You will need a really good catch to beat those Sea-Trout you posted the other week :) , best of luck

I think I might try that Culoo Rock place, seen an article in Irish Angler on it some time ago. How did it fish when you tried it in January? I think I might try the tiny we beach at St. Finian's bay too, looked really fishy the last time I was down and a man who lived beside the beach told me that it used to be really good for bass.

As for the sea trout, I'd love to land a specimen. Last year the girlfriends father landed one of over 6lb on the fly. Fingers crossed.

Good luck with currane and let us knopw how ye go. If you are fishing Finnians I would suggest an early morning start there as it will be plagued with surfers after breakfast time in the local hostels.
