the mighty bass

ive been doing a bit of beech fishing lately and anyone i meet fishing always say "they caught bass here last night but when im around there is not even a nibble. now i myself have never caught a bass so im just wondering is there some kind of secret to catching bass i was told not to cast out to far is this true any hints and tips to catch 1 would be grateful.

no secrets maybe a lot of liars bumping into you on the beach bass are not always on the magic third breaking wave vary the distance of your cast use fresh bait when possible lug and crab are getting them for me at the moment on a 3 hook flapper size 2 hooks try fishing in the evenings into darkness the first bass is always the hardest to catch once ya get him there will be no stopping ya relax and enjoy the fishing the bass will eventualy find one of your baits dont put all your faith in this predictable fishing calender crack hungry fish will feed because they are hungry not because the moon said so

I find a short cast works best for me most of the time but not always.rag and lug work well keep fishing a mark that you know theres bass and id be 100% sure that after a few nights you will get one.one more thing night time really ups your chance .

well cracker, as the lads said if you fish in the late evening into darkness you'll have more of a chance, i do nearly all my bass fishing at night, and you cant go wrong with fresh rag, lug or crab for bait, on two hook flappers, i use 3/0 hooks but other people i fish with use smaller and catch just the same. i dont know if it matters down there but i dont normally dont go by moon phases. if the weathers right then id be confident of catching them any time of the month as long as theres a good surf. some beachs only fish at certain stages of the tide also

Conditions can play a part in it as well. i always found the best bass fishing from the beach was after a bit of a storm when there is still a bit of a roll on the sea. and either fishing a rising tide really early in the morning like before it gets bright or a rising night tide. most of the bass ive caught have only been 10 to 20 yards from the shore and the best baits id say are king rag, lug or fresh crab.
