Long time member first time post.
Just wondering where is the best place buy mussel and razor. The last few times i have bought it frozen it has been terrible. It completely falls to pieces when baiting up. The razor gets way too soft too and falls off during casting even when tied up alot.
I don't want to get it from supermarkets as the price is staggering and work commitments mean i can't get to a harbour shop to get it fresh.
Any help or tips would be appreciated.

Can't help you with the razor, though I agree it's fairly crap when used from frozen. I daresay, though, that if you post up roughly where you are there'd a load of local guys willing to do you a deal over some fresh mussel. Maybe even razor, too, even if collecting it is a lot harder.

I usually fish the Wicklow beaches but will be working in Wexford for a month or two. I'm based in Naas myself so i doubt there's any locals with fresh bait around here. Anywhere around the Wicklow area wouldn't be a problem for me i can make a detour on route.

Forgot to add in my last post i would appreciate it very much if anyone around the Wexford town are could point me in the direction of some nice quite spots down there (not quite regarding fish mind you). As i have stated i will be down in Wexford for the next month or so working and would love nothing more than to grab the rods after work and give some bait a salty dip.
Plus if i could kindly ask to be pointed in the direction of some good local bait shops for rag/lug as i don't have a clue where to go.
Many thanks.

Regarding the razor,i've always found that frozen outfished fresh.Just defrost it a few times and it toughens up and gets very smelly

[always take out of car after a session or else the mrs will crack up],great bait for cod and bass when the surf is up,just remember to use plenty of elastic,if its very soft try a pennel rig.
Mussel is very soft anyway ,a few lads back here freeze them down on big hooks with snoods and just clip them onto the trace as required.
Tight lines

have a look in the phone book for asian shops in your area. i get my razors in a local asian cash and carry. think its about €8ish per kg. i usually have about 40 for €20.
as marlinman said, i find them much better after they have been frozen as they seem much tougher. when i get them fresh i usually leave them in the fridge for a few days till their just starting to go yellowish and then freeze them in bags of 5.
