Hello all
I am heading to buncrana for a week. I am planning on doing some shore fishing and pier fishing.
The question i have is does anyone have any good sites to fish in this area apart from buncrana pier?
Also i would like to target as many types of fish i can so what type of baits, lures etc do i need?
Im sorry for all the questions but my fishing background is fresh water fly fishing.

Search the site for reports from Fahan and Dunree, they will tell you all they need to know. Both are within a stones throw of Buncrana. Dunree tops for variety and should be fishing well at this time. HTH.

2 great fly rivers in buncrana ,the crana and the mill ,both should have a few seatrout and salmon in them

Good luck on the sea trout front unless fishing down by the sea itself. Fished the Crana for nigh on 14 years and never had one sea trout. Should be a few salmon motoring up it alright though.

Thanks everybody.
i am a native of buncrana but have lived away for last few years my home house backs onto the mill river and its were i learned to fish. I love sea trout and the bottom 3 pools of the mill are the best to catch these. the trout used to stay in these pools no matter if the tide was in or out the best methods i found for catching seatrout here was a small spinner or worm. On the crana the last pool under the crana bridge is best for sea trout best method here is worm and the best location is on the oposite bank to the old keep about 3ft out basically just drop it into the water no big casting needed.
dunree sounds brillant to me the more types of fish the better

Same as, concentrated on the Crana above Cockhill bridge so its fair to say there arent too many sea trout that far up....

Re: Dunree, head to the point on the far LHS of the bay, its about a 20 minute yomp. Fish back towards the shore for sand dwellers and off the other side of the point for rocky reefy critters. Sand throws up greys, dabs, flounder, plaice, thornback, dogs, other side has wrasse, pollack, conger and rockling. Enjoy.
