Hi
fished Portaferry this morning from the pier. Although I caught a couple of red cod and wrasse, tackle loss was terrible. Tried wired leads ( with & without rotten botten) but lost three on three casts. Changed to plain lead but the tide/current pulled it all over. Any advice on tactics for this mark?

I`ve fished there a few times and heavy line,50-60lb braid or 30-40lb mono,is the only way to go...

m8 its a hard one to fish...current to strong for float or bottom...spinner and feathers say the locals...lost lot gear there meself tryin all sorts to nail something to the bottom...was told there are marks...hope someone posts them cause its a great place to spend time...

even though I live in Bangor I've never fished past Ballyhalbert so decided to head to kearney to check it out. Got talking to a fella there who says Kearney dire unless ur on a boat and advised portaferry instead. Will head back this weekend with heavy mono and 6oz lead!
