bite detection?

How are you lads just joined recently i havent realy got any friends that fish so its hard to pick up knowledge
when fishing mostly on my tod,i was just wondering if anyone could help me on what to do when you get a bite.ie small fish nibbles
leave it there and hope he swallows it or hit inot him? i find when a gripper weight is in bedded in the sea floor its hard to feel the bite, with bigger fish ie smooths its quite obvious when there sniffing around it and im confident when poleaxing into them,i just feel im not making the best of a quite session if im missing bites
Any tips from use seasoned lads on this would be great.

Hi Trojan. You should post where your from and someone might recommend a club to join. I was dumbfounded at the help and tips I got when I joined SAI and went to some of the comps. Everyone was willing to help and give advice. You also get to see what and how others are using different gear (expensive and affordable) and the types of match rods that will give very good bite detection.

ya trojan joining a club is prob one of the best ways of learning but u can also learn alot urself by experimenting,reading,goggleing and asking etc.some greatly experienced lads on here that will be delighted to help u.even ask ur local fishing tackle shop about queries.using braid can give u better bite dectection.every1 can have the same problem when u use good lead grips unless it a big fish too pull it out of the sand.even waves or breakers can confuse u with bites.all in good time u will become more experienced like us all.enjoy

usually best not to strike. you are setting a trap. use the right size hook to match your bait. most fish get hooked against the resistence of the lead. winding into a large fish is fine if it's running or you get slack line from a drop back bite. send me a pm if you want any help with anything.
