Definitely a head lamp and learn how to tie a palomer knot if you don't already know how to. Easiest knot to tie and can be tied with ease in complete darkness. Also little glow stick or tip light for the tip of the rod so you can spot bites.

as the lads said a headlamp is a must.u can buy them for a few euro.ur safety comes first depending on where ur fishing.beach, ledge etc.clothing with hi visibilty and warmth and waterproof is a must too.during the summer thou it mite not be too bad.having a friend is essential too but if ur on a local beach that u no well u mite be ok just lettin sum1 know ur there.i have fished alot at nite on me own.not a problem.i went in to the 2 euro shop and bought 1 of those magnetic lights and bought 2 euro batteries aswell for it so if i have to move out the beach with the tide just lets say i hook that light on to the box so i know exactly where my box and rod bag is.fishing on well moon lit nites is very handy too.any way its all up to u.just use a little imagination and all will work out well and enjoy ur nite fishing as it seems to alot of anglers including myself to be most productive.wishing u all the best and hope to see a good report here soon

oh yea if u have nite lights stick them on the top of ur rod but not essential if u have a decent rod with a white tip.then u can aim ur headlamp lite on the white tip and be ready even more to see ur bites.but when u get the time keep an eye out in lidl fior the nite lites as they will work out cheaper than batteries

if fishing greystones at night worm baits work well especially in cocktails with other baits i.e squid/crab etc but make sure you have a packet or two of sandeels in your bait box they work especially well at night on this beach cut into small sections for coalies/whiting and if all else fails there should be blanket loads of dogfish that wil happily jump on a sandeel bait at night... try catch the tide coming in and with the aid of some light greystones is fairly safe and comfortable to fish,, goodluck ...

bring 2 lamps. its a pain if 1 fails/batteries die.

If you smoke, bring a spare pack––and especially a spare lighter. Dunno why, but I smoke three times as much on night outings. Not nice to be caught without the fags

Best to fish most marks 2 hours before high and the 2 hours after high.

know the mark well and what way the tide runs in before going night fishing... great when first light hits...ye feel good after a warm coffee and smoke set-up for another few hour before the world gets out off bed...stay safe and enjoy!
