Mono line Colour

Hi all,
Quick question for you pro's. Im going to order some mono line, maybe about 15lb strain. What are your thoughts on the coloured lines eg. Yellow, Red, Blue etc etc etc.. Plus is a 15lb line ok for Pier/Rock fishing. Its just that my first line broke 9 times out of 10 when i got snagged on rock or weed. :roll: Thanks for the help :D

Don't know about colour I'm afraid but I'd say that 15 lb is a bit light for pier/rocks . I use 10 - 15 lb for float & spinning off those places but 17 - 20 for the bottom . Not so much the breaking strain that matters ( altho it certainly helps ) but that the lighter/thinner line frays/cuts thru all too quickly .

I think you'll find quite a bit of discussion on this subject if you search this site .

By the way I'd say stay clear of the brand called Trilene . Just tried it . Relatively cheap and low-memory ( so the man said ) but kinks up like nobodies business .

I use 18lb for pier and rocks and for spinning I use 9-11lb. As for colour-at the moment I am using yellow-the only reason for that is so that I can see the damn thing.I have used other colours but have found no difference for catching fish.But thats only my opinion.

Thanks Lads, Ill try a coloured line, seems to be alot better when u can see were it hits the surface ( avoiding weed and all that ). Grand so ill keep my eye out for a line in the 17lb range. Cheers again :)

I'm no pro but I have a couple of hundred yards of luminous green line that I never use as I never seemed to catch any thing with it.

So this year I'm going with browns and light blues, nothing with too much personality you don't want it attracting attention to itself
