Uni knot, three or four turns will do it, well wetted.

Use it regularly for 8/0 Big Mouths for conger.

palomar knot is strongest for heavy mono and does not weaken under pressure, used for big powerful fish.

The line is too thick for the polomar unfortunately..cheers for the replies I've tried everything but not working the way I want, I think I'll just use crimps :)

Thanks again!

Over 80 pounds I either tie a snell knot, or I'd crimp the connection. For heavy mono, only use 4 to 5 turns before going through the base. As you wrap the line around the hook with your right hand, hold the hook and the two lines with your left. Wet the knot before you start the wraps. Snuggly wrap the hook with the turns, as you attain the wraps, use your left thumb and forefinger to hold all the newly formed coil. Make sure the coils don't slip over the top of the hook eye. As you squeeze the coils with the left hand, you pull the line through the wraps with your right hand. And make sure you put the gloves on and bench test them too!
