There are a few good spots near hook head. Sand Eel Bay is one worth a try. Good for flats and bass as far as I recall. The rocks at the back of Slade Harbour are worth a try for the macs. Maybe the Wexford lads will gve you some pointers for Hook head itself.

Hi,
Sandeel bay is alright. My dad saw a pipefish being chased by a bass there last summer. At low tide we saw it by a rock. Pm Jim for some bass marks. Hes on the site as well. In august sprat are chased in by mackeral in salde harbour. Thats where I was introduced to fishing 4 years ago by my dad.
