Bangor Pier

Just wondering if anyone could tell me what I could catch off the pier. Have fished it the last couple of years on and off and caught just small species. Any thoughts boys?

Some decent(decent for Bangor)1-2 lb pollack caught at weekend off the back of pier on lead greenfish lures.Got 1 small Wrasse using garden worms near to rocks right of platform. Two mackerel also lifted at back of pier Sunday (searing heat   )where the elbow starts. Not too many mackerels about but they are certainly in.

other than the odd 1lb pollack, wrasse and mack in the summer it's pretty much just a mini species mark. there are conger there, but you'll need to get a go at them early before they get cleaned out again this summer

Bangor isn`t just a mini species mark.
Lots of wrasse to 3lb+ off the back, and a very good chance of wrasse to 4lb+.
congers to 20lb+ if ye can get them out from the boulders
Lots of cod(mostly red cod) to 6lb,most would be 1-2lb.

apart from that i guess it is a mini species mark

Why fish the pier? Try wilsons point near pickie park for good wrasse and red cod. Try rag on a sliding float.

Have caught plenty of pollack of the back of the pier using spinners and feathers also on ragworm/mackerel strips on the float caught a 3lb pollack last september on the spinner also plenty of wrasse to be had from the platform can be a bit hit and miss sometimes but a handy mark to fish for few hours .hope this helps.

The level of decent sized fish in Bangor is quite poor. To get a 3Lb pollock you'd have to fish there quite alot. I only fish there for mackeral but only from the rocks.

Yes mate i have been fishing Bangor pier in the spring and summer months at least once every other week for quite a few years now only a 10 minute walk from my house i agree with you that most fish are small but the odd decent one does make an apperance.
