jim, this is gonna sound a bit odd,,, but have you tried giving your spinner a wee squirt of wd-40 before you cast?? if the fish are there in front of you and they're just not taking. it will give you an edge  apparently the fish home in on the smell or something :| :| . i can't begin to explain why it works,, it just does. when i'm fishing for huss or conger i always give the baits a good blast of wd-40 before casting and i've caught loads  . fisherking off the site has told me about his exploits when out spinning off the rocks. he has had loads of sessions where the fish were following the spinner, but not hitting it. but one blast of wd-40 later and the fish almost impale themselves on the lure. give it a go man :P

Nice tip Al, one of my last sessions trout followed my lure in 3 or 4 times and just turned back, frustrating! Will definately give that a try.

Jim add one or two more split rings to your spinners and drop the treble size down to a six. The water there needs to be crystal clear (I find) and fish from low water up. Two sessions and no fish is not that uncommon when fishing for sea trout. Also if they are jumping about they may not be feeding no matter what you through at them.

try just as its getting dark, fish a lot at greenore and always see plenty jumping all day but rarely connect until the suns nearly down ten the fishing gets fast and furious
