I use a bubble float with a 2foot snood of 4lb or 6lb flourocarbon and a size 6 hook.

last time I fished for mullet ,on the deep water quay in Cobh , I just free lined a small slip of mack or herring roe on a really small hook , those mullet can really give you a great fight , but they are really hard to hook .

Take plenty of white bread and make up a good paste. You need to constantly feed them to keep them interested. Use a simple waggler float, very light coarse fishing tackle and a size 8 or 10 barbless hook fishing just off the bottom using bread (not crust). They are quite fussy and can be extremely frustrating but on light tacke and line no more than 6lb you'll have a great bit of fishing. Good luck.
