salthill

Just wondering if anyone know whats happening to salthill, the fishing just seems to be getting worse and worse. I cant remember the last time a decent sized fish was caught, or when fish were there in good amounts(bar pin whiting).
It has gotten very bad the last 2 weeks where getting a fish is a serious struggle. Iv honestly tried everything, massive baits at distance, massive baits in close, small baits in close and small baits at distance. Every sort of rig and baits such as mack, sandeel, squid, rag, lug(blow and black)(fresh and frozen), white rag, mussel and a few hardbacks. There just doesnt seem to be anything there. It really should be picking up by now but as i said its getting worse in my opinion. The water is constantly clear and motionless with no surf or movement due to the wind direction.
I went wading around the beaches today and there were sandeel and a couple of crabs around, plenty of flounder but nothing bigger then 2 cms! Iv tried spinning thinking that might work due to the water clarity but nothing!
I know the water is still colder due to the cold winter but you would think there would be a few fish there!
Does anyone know of any beaches that are fishing well within a 20 mins drive from the city? I havent tried silverstrand in a while but i dont think that will be too much better! All that seems to be there is the odd doggie or flounder! Any help would be great.
O and does anyone know how long it takes for 2 cm flounder take to grow haha

Jesus Christ - so instead of going a few miles out and dropping their nets, those __ pricks have spoiled an entire summer of fishing from the inside Galway Bay

hehe.. I think its more to do with the water temperature being rather behind what it usually is for this time of year, checked against a few places and it seems to be still a few degree's lower than in previous years, it seems that everywhere is about a month or so behind in temperature..

thats the best reason i can come up with for the moment...

thats true, but i rekon another reason is the winds are all notherlys or easterlies this year, its making the water flat calm an gin clear! Anytime there is a bit of a blow from the south or west there is a fish or two around
