slob trout

recentley cought aslob trout in dungarvan bay are they classed as salt or fresh water fish
on earthworms while flounder fishing about 5lbs.
ofter see catch them in tidal part of colligan river
anyone with any info.
are they in other rivers estuarys???
seen them up 2 about 10lbs

I recon they thrive in brackish water which is more fresh water than salt we catch them regulary from the bunratty river, the Rine that flows through Dromoland Castle estate on the tidal side and in the salt water creek near Shannon airport they can some times put up a good fight.

In a way they are probably sea trout that hang around the estuary as they dont travel more than 20 miles from the river they hatched from.
