One our guests yesterday went mullet fishing. Using bubble float, size 8 hook and a piece of bread flake several fish came and mouthed at the bait until a large fish took it.
After a hard fight during which he thought the mullet record was under threat the net was slipped under a fine 9lbs 2oz bass!!
Seen bass swimming with mullet before but never had one take bread, has anyone else?

I fish for mullet alot down here in Wex, I have seen bass under the mullet so i always have a toby with me. Have caught a few that way but never on the bread. I've caught sea trout on bread a good few times and even one on sweetcorn.

If this had have been the 1st of April I would have said this was deffo an April Fool's gag.
I've never heard of this before. Bass have been known to swim amongst shoals of mullet for cover, I've seen them myself while out mullet fishing but I've never heard of one taking bread.
It just goes to show, we're spending all that money on expensive lures and baits etc when we could be saving ourselves a fortune by buying a loaf of bread instead!

Definitely a new angle on the Loaves and Fishes miracle....
What kind of bread was it all - soft batch? healthy wholegrain? maybe an exotic sundried-tomato focaccio? I'll try anything....
